Goods Return, Refund & Warranty Policy

1. Purpose & Scope

1.1 This Policy sets out the procedures applicable to the return of goods for repair, replacement, exchange, or credit.

1.2 This Policy applies only to goods purchased from Cheap Deals. Goods obtained from other sources or under separate terms are excluded.

1.3 Cheap Deals may amend or update this Policy at any time in its sole discretion. Customers must keep themselves informed of updates published by Cheap Deals.

1.4 This Returns Policy forms part of Cheap Deals’ Standard Terms and Conditions. All defined terms in the General Terms and Conditions shall have the same meaning herein unless the context indicates otherwise.

Nothing in this Policy is intended to limit or restrict any statutory rights afforded to consumers under applicable law, including the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 (CPA).

 

2. Definitions

2.1 “Customer” means the purchaser of the goods from Cheap Deals.

2.2 “Goods” include hardware, peripherals and components supplied by Cheap Deals.

2.3 “Carry‑in Warranty” means the Customer must return Goods to Cheap Deals at the Customer’s cost and risk for warranty assessment and repair.

2.4 “RMA” means a Return Merchandise Authorization number issued by Cheap Deals.

2.5 “CPA” means the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008.

 

3. Preparing Products for Return

To ensure efficient processing of your return request, the Customer must comply with the following requirements:

3.1 Products must be securely packaged to prevent damage during transit.

3.2 The return reference number (RMA) must be clearly marked on the outside of the parcel.

3.3 All original accessories, components, and parts supplied with the product must be included. Failure to comply with these requirements may result in delays or rejection of the return request.

 

4. Eligibility & General Principles

4.1 You may return a product purchased from Cheap Deals  under the following conditions:

• The item is unused, undamaged, and in the original packaging (except where stated otherwise for Unboxed, reconditioned, or used goods).

• All original labels, accessories, and components are included.

• A return is logged via the website within 7 days of delivery or collection.

4.2 Cheap Deals may, at its discretion, impose restrictions on the redemption of credited funds for certain products.

4.3 Unboxed, reconditioned, and used items are not subject to all standard return rights; applicable exceptions are noted below.

 

5. Unwanted or Incorrectly Purchased Products

5.1 Customers may return an unwanted product to Cheap Deals, provided that:

(a) The product is unopened, unused, and undamaged, with all original labels, stickers, and seals intact.

(b) No accessories or parts are missing.

(c) The return is logged on the Cheap Deals website or the product is returned together with the original invoice within 7 days of delivery or collection.

5.2 After 14 days, returns will only be accepted if the product is defective in terms of the CPA.

5.3 Upon inspection and validation of the returned product, Cheap Deals will process a credit to the Customer’s account for the purchase price of the product within 10–15 working days of receipt at Cheap Deals’ warehouse or service centre.

 

6. Returns Handling Fee

6.1 Cheap Deals is not obliged to accept returns.

6.2 Where returns are accepted after 7 days from invoice (up to 14 days maximum), Cheap Deals will levy a handling fee of 30% of the purchase price.

 

7. Requests for Credit or Refund

7.1 Documentation: The Customer must provide:

(a) A copy of the relevant Cheap Deals invoice.

(b) Evidence that the defect falls within warranty and outside the exclusions.

7.2 Verification period: Cheap Deals is entitled to a minimum of 3 business days to verify the defect and determine whether the warranty applies.

7.3 Deductions: If Cheap Deals approves a credit or refund, Cheap Deals may deduct reasonable amounts for:

(a) Repackaging costs.

(b) Customer’s use of the Goods.

(c) Replacement of consumables (e.g., ink cartridges, lamps).

(d) Resetting to factory defaults.

(e) Replacement of missing/damaged Goods or accessories (including items in a bundle).

7.4 Consumables: There is no warranty on consumables (including ink cartridges and toners).

7.5 Software: Cheap Deals does not offer a warranty on software that has been activated and used.

 

8. Warranty Terms (Hardware vs Software)

8.1 Hardware: Cheap Deals’ warranty applies only to the hardware component(s) of the Goods.

8.2 Software: No warranty is provided for any software (including operating systems), once activated or used.

8.3 Product‑specific terms: Each product may carry its own specific warranty terms and period. Where terms differ, the product‑specific warranty governs.

8.4 Carry‑in: Unless otherwise stipulated in writing, all warranties are carry‑in. The Customer must return Goods to Cheap Deals at the Customer’s cost and risk.

8.5 CPA precedence: Warranty terms provided at purchase will apply unless overridden by the CPA, in which case the CPA prevails.

8.6 Disclosure: Cheap Deals will inform the Customer of the applicable warranty terms at point of sale.

8.7 Direct purchase requirement: Warranties apply only to Goods purchased directly from Cheap Deals.

  

9. Build‑to‑Order Units

9.1 Computers and peripherals manufactured by vendors, supplied by Cheap Deals to Customer specifications, carry a warranty in respect of the complete unit, identifiable by the case serial number.

 

10. CPA Warranty (Section 56) – Defects Within 6 Months

10.1 If Goods become defective within 6 months from the date of Cheap Deals’ invoice, and the defect is material and not caused by an excluded circumstance, then—subject to the CPA—the remedy will be repair, replacement, or refund.

10.2 Exclusions (non‑exhaustive): Defects arising from—

10.2.1 Abuse, misuse, negligence, or fair wear and tear.

10.2.2 Failure to follow manufacturer instructions/user manual.

10.2.3 Improper installation or maintenance.

10.2.4 Use in an improper environment.

10.2.5 Excessive/inadequate heating/air conditioning; power failures, surges or irregularities.

10.2.6 Unauthorized repair, modification, or parts/options installation.

10.2.7 Acts of God (e.g., lightning, floods, storms), liquid damage, insect infestation.

10.2.8 Tampering (e.g., PCB damage), broken/dented casings or drop damage.

 

11. Warranty Void Situations

11.1 Warranty claims are not eligible where any of the following are present:

(a) Serial number labels removed/damaged/defaced.

(b) Warranty seals broken/tampered.

(c) Physical damage (including drop damage, dents, burns).

(d) Unauthorized modifications or repair work.

(e) Incorrect usage contrary to the user manual or tampering with PCB.

(f) Incorrect environmental conditions; liquid ingress; insect infestation.

(g) Acts of God (lightning, floods, storms).

11.2 For product‑specific void criteria, Customers must consult the product documentation/user manual. Dealer warranty policies may apply in addition to these terms. Additional “visual void” policy details are available upon request.

 

12. Repairs (Warranty and Out‑of‑Warranty)

12.1 Under Warranty: Repairs/replacements will be undertaken where:

(a) Goods are within the warranty period.

(b) Goods are not physically damaged.

12.2 Out‑of‑Warranty / Voided Warranty:

(a) A diagnostic fee is payable.

(b) A written quotation (labour and parts, if required) will be issued on request.

(c) Repairs commence only after the Customer accepts the quotation and:

— issues an official PO (for Customers with terms), or

— makes payment upfront (COD Customers),

and returns the accepted quotation within 10 business days.

(d) Quotations not accepted within 10 business days are deemed rejected.

12.3 Turnaround: Estimated 7–10 business days after acceptance of the quotation, subject to parts availability.

12.4 Uncollected goods: If Goods are not collected within 30 days of repair completion, Cheap Deals may scrap or sell the Goods to recover costs.

 

13. Limitation of Liability; Data & Security

13.1 Data loss: Cheap Deals will not be liable for data loss of any nature. Customers must back up all data before handing in Goods.

13.2. Customer signage: Customers must display clear signage stating:

“It is the customer’s responsibility to back up all data prior to handing in goods. We/the supplier/the manufacturer will not be liable for any data loss of whatsoever nature.”

13.3. Malware/viruses: Cheap Deals will not be liable for virus/malware/trojan infections or other software threats appearing after Goods are removed from original packaging and used.

13.4 Services limitation: Cheap Deals (including employees/agents) will not be liable for direct or consequential losses, damages, costs or claims arising from or in connection with services rendered, save to the extent liability cannot be excluded by law.

 

14. Procedure & Administration

 

14.1 Pre‑authorisation: Customers must obtain an RMA before returning Goods.

14.2 Packaging: Returned Goods must be securely packaged, include all accessories, and bear the RMA number clearly.

14.3 Inspection: Cheap Deals may inspect/test returned Goods and decline claims not meeting criteria.

14.4 Proofs: Claims must include the original tax invoice and any requested documentation.

14.5 Risk: Goods in transit to Cheap Deals are at the Customer’s risk.

 

 15.Samsung Warranty Service Guidelines & Procedure

Onsite Call Logging Process:


15.1 Contact the Call Centre on 0860- SAMB2B (0860-726 222) 
15.2 The Call Centre agent will book a service call with an Authorised Service Centre (ASC) 
15.3 Please have the proof of purchase (invoice) reflecting the serial number ready to fax/e-mail to the Authorised Service Centre (ASC)
15.4 You will be asked for the Full Model Code and Serial Number as per the back of the display when booking a service order with the Call Centre. 
15.5 You will be issued with a reference number for tracking purposes.
15.6 Should the product not be repairable on-site, the ASC will arrange for the product to be collected, repaired in the workshop, and returned to the consumer. 
15.7 For a carry-in products please return product to the nearest ASC (https://www.samsung.com/za/support/service-centre/ ), For pick-up service please complete the warranty service request form, attach it to the unit together with the Proof of purchase.
